The baby is growing to the size of a blueberry, with the little jaw and cheekbones taking shape.
I've been pretty lucky symptom-wise. I haven't had any morning sickness (knock on wood!). I am tired and my mood changes quickly, and I can still smell everything. But nothing terribly uncomfortable. The book says most women see symptoms around week 6. For awhile I was eating whatever sounded good, just in case something would trigger the sickness. But, so far so good, so I'm going to start eating better. I even packed salad with grilled chicken and vegetables for lunch today.
Last night we made chicken alfredo (not from the jar) and it was delicious! I like cooking with my husband. I am so very lucky to have someone like him to share life with.
A few friends of ours are trying to plan a vacation in January. Ordinarily we might go, but at this rate there's too much I wouldn't be able to do: hang out on the beach (I shouldn't overheat), go swimming (me, 26 weeks and in a swimming suit? no sir), all inclusive (no alcohol for me), 7 days (I hope to save my PTO). So, bummer, but I think we're a no go.
I'm already looking forward to setting up the nursery and finding diapers on sale. :) I'm trying to wait at least until we find out the sex of the baby - that will help with the colors, haha.
Coming up: A free weekend!

It's Official
I went to the doctor yesterday, and it's official - we're pregnant!
I can't believe this is really happening. We weren't trying, but we weren't not trying either. So in a few short months we'll have a little one joining our family. I can't wait to see what he or she looks like!
We're going to wait to tell family for a few weeks, just to let it all sink in. I'm thinking Labor day weekend will be a good time to make the announcement.
We picked up a copy of What to Expect When You're Expecting. I'm at 6 weeks, so the baby is the size of an orange seed with a heart beat and everything. Wow. A heart beat!
So far I've been lucky and only have a few symptoms - namely a highly acute sense of smell!
If I keep up with this blog, it can be a place to share and keep track of our family memories.
Coming up: My parents and John are coming down for a visit - Dad and John will be traveling on down to Texas and Mom will be here to shop & hang out. John's turning 21 (holy cow!) in a week.
