For some unexplainable reason, when I reached 16 weeks on Saturday I finally felt happy with my growing belly. I had it in my head that I shouldn't be showing this much already or gaining so much weight early on. But I have to remember that everyone's body is different, and there is no real "normal".
I had a nice visit with my parents last weekend while C.T. was in Indiana for a guys weekend to watch the Iowa game. She said she gained around 30 or 35 with us girls, and then 65 with my brother. And that makes me feel a lot better, because she definitely lost that weight soon after. My mom also said I should be feeling the baby kick any day now, but that it will be more like a tiny internal flutter.
We went into a fancy baby store down on Grand ave - there's a lot of stuff you could buy for baby! Some of the things on my wish list already are a nice high chair, glass bottles, one of those wrap things, and a nice stroller. We were also able to get some ideas for the crib dad's making. I'm hoping I keep to my less is more mentality. Especially for toys and such - here's what I imagine will be in our toy box: wooden blocks, legos, cars, play kitchen, puzzles, balls, doll house, crayons. Oh, I can't wait for the coloring years!
